In the German state Bavaria, the adventure starts on the 8th of June 2024. Far away from big cities you find the location of our first bivouac called Ténéré Town. After your arrival you can pitch your tent and get into the travel mood immediately. 150 Ténéré riders will arrive throughout the day. Get to know the other riders in a relaxed atmosphere and share your passion for motorcycle adventures.

You will be challenged and inspired by the instructors of Yamaha Motor on a large off road playground consisting of countless tracks and trails. Today will be a mix of masterclasses, clinics, workshops and ride outs to ultimately prepare for the journey ahead.

The lunch together is a welcome break to let the morning program sink in and charge up for the rest of the day’s program. There will be several off road courses for different skill levels and ride outs to put into practice the skills you just sharpened and learned. You can test your navigation setup and you will have the opportunity to get some final advice before the real adventure starts.

With warmed up muscles and improved skills, the journey through Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia starts. During this first stage you will be tested right away as a long distance traveler. Today’s route is the longest of all stages, in order to get out of the fields and into the mountains. The German autobahn points you directly south, in the direction of the highest and most extensive mountain range of Europe. As soon as you see The Alps looming in the distance, it won’t be long until your tires hit Austrian soil.

Considered one of the most beautiful roads in the world, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road brings you to the literal highlight of today. Not less than 36 switchbacks lead you through a wild and rocky landscape along Austria’s highest mountain and glacier. After the 48 km long rollercoaster through some of the best scenery the Alps have to offer, Ténéré Town awaits you in the valley below with cold drinks and Carinthian delights.

Note: today’s route contains no unpaved sections due to restrictive laws in Germany and Austria.

Today’s route immediately compensates for the lack of off road trails in Germany and Austria. After the second border crossing of the journey, Slovenia quickly unveils its natural beauty.

Triglav National Park is home to the Pokljuka Plateau in between the crystal clear waters of Lake Bled and Bohinj. The charismatic mountain villages and farms in this rural area are connected with a labyrinth of white gravel roads. Lift an eye from the demanding tracks from time to time to take in the mesmerizing views over the green paradise you are surrounded by.

The melting snow in The Alps forms creeks carving their ways down creating oases at the most remote places of the country. Ideal for taking a break from the ongoing adventure!   

After you cross into Croatia, it’s obvious you just entered Mediterranean grounds. It doesn’t take long until you’ll see and smell the turquoise sea from The Adriatic Highway. After a good collection of serpentine twists and turns on one of the most scenic coastal roads in the world, it’s time to leave the touristic sun-blessed shores and disapear into the mountains to go off the beaten track again. From the 1,000 meters high gravel roads the views over the countless islands is specaculair.

While you traverse through Northern Velebit National Park without any sign of civilization around you, it’s hard to imagine you enjoyed the bustling coastline just a few moments ago. Surrounded by nothing else than pristine nature, today’s bivouac makes you feel far away from home.

Hiding behind images of an azure sea and Venetian-style towns which Croatia is so famous for, there is a secret world that is home to some of the most diverse wildlife in Europe. Discover the hidden treasures Croatia holds underneath its trees in seemingly endless forests on the foothills of the Dinaric Alps. Cross paths of brown bears and lynx while you wind your way through the rugged terrain.

Further inland the scars of the war in former Yugoslavia are still visible today. Abandoned villages with bullet holes in the facades of houses and minefields with warning signs that force you to stay on the track leaves you speechless inside your helmet, while you realize what happened on the ground you ride on.

From dense forests to wide open spaces, today’s stage once again shows Croatia’s extraordinarily varied nature. The other Ténéré riders around you are the only constant factor in the ceaselessly changing landscape around you.

Today’s stage starts in a relaxed atmosphere along the fabulous shores of the artificial Lake Peruca. A fair share of switchbacks leads you high up into the Dinaric Alps, where a new world is being revealed in front of your eyes. The desolate plain reminiscent of the Mongolian Plateau, awakens the true explorer within you.

Wide-open gravel roads carry you away from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, into the Paklenica National Park which once was the scenery of the famous Western movies of Winnetou. This time you are the main character in your own action movie.

Once you see the sparkles of the Adriatic Sea again from high up in the mountains, a thunderous final chord starts on the road ahead until you cross the finish line. You’ve made it! You are a Ténéré Travel Trophy finisher! Time to celebrate this accomplishment with champagne, live music and the best of Croatian cuisine.

Exhausted but satisfied! One last time you will enjoy breakfast together with all participants of the Ténéré Travel Trophy 2024 while looking back on an unforgettable week.
